he Commissioning Engineer will be responsible for performing all commissioning activities for the assigned systems (AC primary systems, protection systems, and auxiliary power systems) in various HVDC projects.
The role ensures that all systems are properly installed, thoroughly tested, and operate reliably in accordance with project specifications, as well as in full compliance with applicable safety standards and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Execute commissioning activities for HV primary equipment, AC protection and Control Systems, and Auxiliary power systems, such as MVAC, Auxiliary Transformers, LVAC, LVDC, Batteries, and UPS.
Conduct integration, functional testing, and performance verification of electrical systems at the construction site as well as Factory Acceptance Tests.
Perform testing of protection relays, auxiliary systems (e.g., automatic transfer systems), troubleshooting, and analyze test results.
Prepare detailed test procedures, commissioning plans, checklists, as-builts, and project programs.
Compile and maintain test records in accordance with project requirements and internal procedures, and obtain client approval and formal sign-off for completed tests.
Deliver timely, technically sound commissioning of assigned systems within schedule and budget.
Collaborate closely with design engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of systems.
Provide technical support and guidance to field personnel during installation and commissioning phases.
Deliver training to operational staff for maintenance of commissioned systems.
Promote knowledge sharing and best practices within the team to enhance overall project performance.
Support Project Management activities related to quality, risks, safety, cost control, claims management, and active participation in improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical or Power Engineering, or a comparable qualification.
Fluent in English and German.
Approximately 5 years of experience in commissioning engineering.
Strong commitment to health and safety standards and practices.
Experience in electrical commissioning of AC protection systems, auxiliary systems, and HV substations.
Proficient in test equipment (e.g., Omicron, Megger) and engineering tools (e.g., DIGSI, PCM600); working knowledge of PLC systems (e.g., SIMATIC TDC/S7) is an advantage.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Familiar with project management tools and methodologies.
Flexible and adaptable, with willingness to travel and undertake long-term assignments in Germany and internationally.
Willing to work both onshore and offshore sites.
